Robert “Bob” William Schaefer died of injuries obtained in a traffic accident on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 in Granite City. He was airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital where he died at 7:30 pm that evening.
He was born on October 21, 1930 in Alton, IL, son of William and Ruth (Weber) Schaefer.
Bob graduated in 1949 from Alton Senior High School and was a lifelong resident of Alton area. Bob was his own person, believed in God and loved his family.
He is survived by a niece, Marie Meyer of CA; several nephews and four cousins; Dixie (Weber) Darr, of Alton, Mary Jean (Weber) Conners, of AZ, Ella (Weber) Snyder of AZ and Marilyn (Morris) Headley of FL; close and dear friends, Lisa Ramey of Granite City, Sam Drenovac of Granite City, Minnie Retzer of Wood River and many friends in the Alton and Granite City areas.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim.
Services will be held at a later date.
