William Killam

William Wendell Killam, 88, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Fountain View Manor in Granite City.

  Born Dec. 19, 1922 in Hettick, Ill., he was the son of Ben and Fern Killam. 

  The World War II Army veteran was a lifetime farmer, both in Hartford and Nortonville, Ill.

  He married Edna L. Black July 25, 1942 in East Alton.  She passed away Oct. 13, 2010.

  Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and John Ratcliff of Glen Carbon; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Marsha Killam of Kingsland, Tex.;  3 grandchildren, Rebecca Stuttle, and Michael and Scott Ratcliff; four great grandchildren, Cameron and Kayla Stuttle and Ethan and Chloe Ratcilff; and a nephew, John R. Wilson of Washington.

   In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cleta Wilson.

  Visitation will be at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. until funeral services begin at 10 a.m.  Rev. Dan Smith will officiate.

   Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
