Roland Lee Smith, 60, died at 8:28 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville. Born December 2, 1952 in Wood River, he was the son of the late Leonard “Leo” Smith and Regina (Clymer) Smith Martin. Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army and retired in 2008 as a machinist from the Olin Corporation. On October 10, 2008 he married the former Alissa E. Womack. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Annie Anderson of Gillespie, a son, Chris Smith of Wood River, three brothers, Phillip Smith, Kevin Andrews, and Michael Martin, and three sisters, Terry Koniak, Robin Uzzel, and Ramona Dugger. There will be no services at this time. Memorials may be made in memory of Roland to a charity of choice. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
