Ann Hamilos

Ann M. Hamilos, 93, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Stearns Nursing & Rehab Center in Granite City, IL.  She was born December 23, 1920, in Granite City, IL to Arthur & Libbie Lombardi.  She attended high school in Granite City.  While in her senior year, she went to work at Nesco. She met her future husband, Christopher E. Hamilos, during a dance at Polish Hall in Madison, IL.  They were married 61 years.  Ann & her husband Chris worked at Hamilos Bros. Meats which they co-owned with her husband’s brother & sister-in-law.  She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.  Her main interest in life was her family and her faith.  In later years, she enjoyed watching & attending Cardinal baseball games.  Ann is survived by 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 son & his spouse, Dr. David & Becky Hamilos of Johnson City, TN, 2 daughters & their spouses, Sharon & Jim Parker of Granite City, IL, Karen & Brian Oestricker of Collinsville, IL, along with 4 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren.  Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Delores Mort, & her son Christopher A. Hamilos.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Rd, Granite City, IL on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Rd, Granite City, IL on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Chris Comerford as celebrant.  Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stearns Nursing & Rehab along with Heartland Hospice staff for their love and dedication shown to Ann.
