Edward Asadorian

Edward S. Asadorian, 93, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 06, 2014 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.  He was born February 21, 1921 in Granite City, a son of the late Jacob and Mary (Arzrouni) Asadorian.  He married Mary (Kambarian) Asadorian on October 4, 1947 in Granite City and she survives.  He retired on January 3, 1980 from the U.S. Army Troop Support Command after 35 years of dedicated service as a program director and budget analyst officer.  The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during World War II.  He was a dedicated member of St. Gregory’s Armenian Apostolic Church in Granite City where he had served many years as the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees and was active with the Mr. and Mrs. Club.  He was also a member of N.A.R.F.E., The Armenian Youth Federation and the Lincoln Place Heritage Association.  He enjoyed his days of collecting stamps and coins and was an avid N.Y. Yankee’s fan.  He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward G. and Norma Asadorian of Granite City and Arthur A. and Pamela Asadorian of Granite City; a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie R. and Graham Keeney of Glen Carbon; two grandchildren, Andrew J. Asadorian of Granite City and Angela R. Keeney of Glen Carbon; step-grandson, Rick and wife, Tiffany Evans of Granite City; step-great grandchildren, Makenzie and Ian Evans of Granite City; brother and sister-in-law, Gregory and Adele Asadorian of Edwardsville; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Jones.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, 3501 Century Drive in Granite City on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Stephan Baljian as celebrant.  Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.  Memorials are appreciated and may be given to St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church or to the Lincoln Place Heritage Association and may be accepted at the funeral home.  www.irwinchapel.com
