Elsielene Freeman of Belleville

Elsielene Analee Freeman, 76, went to be with the Lord at 11:53 pm Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at her home from complications of multiple sclerosis. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

She was born February 14, 1938 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the devoted daughter of Winfred and Mary (Nutt) Cook.  

Elsielene was a Registered Central Service technician at Alton Memorial Hospital until her retirement.  She was a member of New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in Wood River and the Belleville Lion’s Club.  She enjoyed writing poetry, traveling and being with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She was a loving mother and faithful servant of Jesus Christ.  Her life displayed a powerful message that taught all of us to keep the faith no matter what the obstacle.  She had a fight to survive and knew that every day was a blessing. She had a passion for life and lived each day to the fullest. 

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Brian (Patricia) Freeman of Shipman,  LeeAnn (Michael) Terry of Belleville, and a daughter-in-law, Anita Freeman of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Mason Terry, Emma Terry, Kayla (Nathan) Lively, David Freeman, Amber Freeman, Maegan (William) Englert; one great granddaughter, Madelynn Englert and a sister, Mary Lee (Cook) Everhart of Key West, FL.  

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Gary Freeman, her siblings, Rayford, Charles, Doris Marshall, Robert and Tom Cook.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, October 10, 2014 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in Wood River with Pastor Robert McCrorey officiating.

Burial will follow at Short Cemetery in Cottage Hills.
