Francis Lynn Thayer, 48, went to be with the Lord at 9:12 pm Tuesday, October 6, 2015 following an accident.
He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on June 9, 1967, the son of Terry and Sue (Paul) Thayer.
He married Angela McDonough on July 14, 1990 in Bethalto. She survives.
Francis was a Chaplain at the Greenville Correctional Facility for over 11 years. He was a member of the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Bethalto, where he led several small groups. He was an avid Cubs fan. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, playing cards, golf, and most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Zachary and Nathaniel Thayer of Highland; his parents, Terry and Sue Thayer of Indianola, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Cynthia Thayer of Indianola, Iowa; a sister, Sarah Thayer of Moline, IL; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dale and Joyce McDonough of Bethalto; two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Myron and Deana McDonough of Bethalto and Tim and Lisa McDonough of Litchfield; his nieces and nephews, Kayla, Keith, Sarah, Emily, Kalee, Elaine, Jackson, Presley, Ray, Michael and Casey and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Thayer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, October 9, 2015 at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Bethalto.
Visitation will continue from 9:30 am until services at 12:30 pm Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the church with Pastor Erik Scottberg and Pastor Phil Schneiderofficiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
