Brenda Martinez

Brenda S. Martinez, 64, passed away at 4:50 pm Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. 

She was born October 17, 1951 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Marshall and Ruth (Carey) McDuffy. 

She married Joseph “Joe” Martinez on July 3, 1988 in Bethalto.  She survives. 

Brenda was a beautician at Alton Mental Health Center in Alton for over 21 years.  She was a volunteer for Special Olympics, a Sunday School at Northside Assembly of God Church and a Missionettes leader.  She enjoyed cooking.  She loved spending time with her family and everyone called her mama and she made them all feel like part of her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Heather (Carl) Davis of Bethalto, Ryan (Tammie) Smith of Cottage Hills, Danielle (Michael) Robinette of Wood River, Diane Toro of Granite City and Melissa (Dan) Saul of Granite City; twelve grandchildren, Keaton Cole, Avy Day, Jenna, Jessa and Gage Robinette, Salvador III, Gabriella, Salena, Nathan, Maria and Matthew Martinez; one great granddaughter, Amiya; a sister, Marsha (Roger) Frankford of Bethalto a brother, Bruce (Pam) McDuffy of California and a nephew, Cody Booten and a niece, Kelly Snyder.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Antonia Martinez and a sister, Janice Booten. 

Visitation will be from 11 am until service at 1 pm Friday, November 27, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Mike Holmes officiating.

Cremation rites will follow.

Inurnment will be at a later date at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation.
