Helen Robertson

Helen C. Robertson, 83, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.

She was born Decemer 24, 1932 in Edwardsville, Illinois, a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Ella M. (Naumann) Peters.

She married Donald L. “Robbie” Robertson on April 15, 1949 in Salem, Arkansas and he passed away on March 6, 2006.

She was a devoted member of St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City where she was active with the Evening Guild and Church Women United. She was also a member of Home Extension and loved attending the Local #520 Retirees group. She enjoyed playing the piano, was an avid bridge player and enjoyed her days of fishing. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved cooking and sewing.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and John Relleke of Granite City and Donna and Tim Streid of Granite City; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Shelly Robertson of Edwardsville; grandchildren and spouses, Rich and Patty Relleke, Rob and Jennifer Relleke, Ryan and Jill Relleke, Alyson Streid, Ashley Streid, Aaron Streid and Jenee Padgett; great grandchildren, Rhett Relleke, Lily Relleke, Tyler Theis, Hadley Relleke and Ava Relleke; a sister, Joan Schnyder of Collinsville; nephew, Charlie Schnyder of Edwardsville; sister-in-law, Betty Robertson of Colorado; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Dick Schnyder and Jack Robertson and a niece, Liz Gray.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at St. John United Church of Christ, 2901 Nameoki Road in Granite City on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
where visitation will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Karla Frost officiating.

Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or to the American Cancer Society.
