Alvin E. Willaredt, 97, of Glen Carbon and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 12:34 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon. He was born June 12, 1919 in Granite City, a son of the late George and Lydia (Wachter) Willaredt. He married LaVerne M. (Eads) Willaredt on May 15, 1948 at St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City and she passed away on May 9, 2016. He was a farmer throughout his lifetime and a member of the Farm Bureau and the Horseradish Growers of Illinois. He was a dedicated and faithful member of St. John United Church of Christ where he was active with the St. John’s Brotherhood. He enjoyed his days of bowling and was active with many leagues throughout the years. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Suhayda of Glenwood, Illinois; a granddaughter, Melissa Midland of Taylorville, Illinois; a son-in-law, Terry Midland of Taylorville, Illinois; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris Keller of Maryville and Darlene and Joseph Schroder of Columbia, Missouri; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Joan Willaredt of Glen Carbon; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Kathleen Eads of Glen Carbon; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Midland; a brother, Harley Willaredt and a sister, Marie Willaredt. In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City and may be accepted at the funeral home.
