Ethel Louise Whalen, 90, passed away 1:15 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Stearns Nursing and Rehab in Granite City.
Born in Alton on February 13, 1928, she was the daughter of Cecil Allen and Susan Louise (Butler) Lawrence.
Ethel had been a seamstress for Martin Fishkop in North Alton and Bridal Originals before retiring.
She enjoyed painting, gardening and yard work.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan . (Larry) Benton of Edwardsville; two grandchildren, Darrell (Lisa) Tucker, Serena (Chris) Brewer; four great grandchildren, Kacie (Derrick) Thomas, Sydney Crump, Jesse Brewer, Madisyn Tucker; and two great great grandchildren, Noah and Elise Thomas.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Burial will follow in United Methodist Cemetery in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation.
