Robert H. “Rocky” Korte, age 76 of Highland, IL, died Friday, August 10, 2018, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL.
He was born on February 20, 1942, in Highland, IL, the son of Anton and Wilhelmina (nee Goestenkors) Korte.
On June 05, 1965, he married Edith “Edy” L. Drake at St. Felicitas Catholic Church-Beaver Prairie,IL. She survives in Highland, IL .
He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. He was also a member of Former member of Highland Jaycee’s – Carpenter’s Local #1535 – Highland Knights of Columbus #1580 – St. Paul Church Usher’s Club.
Robert was born in Highland and spent his childhood on the family farm near Pierron. He attended school in Pierron and graduated St. Paul High School in 1960. Following graduation he spent 2 years in the US Army with duty in Greenland and Christmas Island. He lived in the Highland area and was employed by Ralph Korte Construction Company as Superintendent. He loved working for Korte Construction and retired in 2000. He also had a small farm and enjoyed spending time there. Many mornings were spent at McDonald’s Restaurant and Korte Rec Center. His hobbies include playing cards, landscaping, Cardinal Baseball, spending time with his grandchildren and family activity’s. He was especially proud of his restored 1958 Massey-Ferguson tractor and his restored Blue Dodge Pickup Truck.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Father Pat F. Jakel officiating.
Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul School Educational Foundation.
