Anthony Joseph “Tony” Turski, 96, of Madison, Illinois, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Granite City Nursing & Rehab.
Born in Madison on June 13, 1922 to Faustyn and Natalie (Banach) Turski, he was a United States Veteran and a member of St. Mary’s. He worked as the Chief Desk Clerk in the Madison Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 1972.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dr. Ben Turski, DDS, two sisters, Helen Bertacchi and Hattie Mulnik, and two infant brothers.
He is survived by three sisters, Clara (Ed) Bonk of Maryville, Agnes Ruesing of Madison, and Elsie (Tom) Gordon of Collinsville, along with one brother, Stanley Turski of Lake in the Hills, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 23 at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home in Granite City.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison. Interment will be a Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or during masses.
