Marie E. Wille, 97 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018 in Worden, Illinois.
Marie was born on March 6, 1921 in Granite City, Illinois; the daughter of the late Mathias and Dorothea (Brinkoff) Buehrer. Marie was a homemaker and an active member of St. John United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Quilters and the Hill Toppers. She was a 50 year member of the choir; a member of St. John Women’s Guild and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Marie volunteered at Lake School and was known there as the “Penny Lady” and enjoyed being the great pumpkin at Relleke Farms. Most of all Marie loved to spend time with her family and will be remembered for all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
Marie is survived by and will be missed by her children; Kenneth L. (Donna) Wille of Hillsboro, Illinois, Lynn Joyce of Worden, Illinois; grandchildren, Kevin (Jill) Wille, Brandon (Beth) Wille, Ann Clark, Jeff (Amanda) Joyce; great-grandchildren, Raymond Wille, Aaron Wille, Alex Wille, Kate Wille, Kendall Clark, Tyler Clark, Christopher Clark, Jacob Joyce.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband; Raymond W. Wille, whom she married on July 16, 1941; her son-in-law, Harold Joyce; sisters, Margaret (Henry) Podgorski, Doris (Russell Dean) McGovern; brother, Bill Buehrer.
In celebration of Marie’s life, visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Karla Frost officiating at St. John United Church of Christ, 2901 Nameoki Road in Granite City. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road in Granite City at a later date. Memorial donations are suggested to Unity Hospice, St. John United Church of Christ or Prairietown Volunteer Fire Department. Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City is serving the family.
