Lena Seitzer

Lena Irene Seitzer, 91, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 10:58 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in St. Charles, Missouri. 

She was born October 27, 1926 in Granite City, a daughter of the late Etta (Heath) and Joseph Snyder.  She married Donald G. Seitzer on November 5, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri and he passed away on September 23, 2012. 

She was a homemaker whom cherished her family.  She was a faithful member of over 50 years at Central Christian Church in Granite City where she had served the youth group and as a Sunday school teacher.  Throughout the years she was active with the Christian Women’s Fellowship and Christian Women United and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies.  She enjoyed her days of sewing, working with crafts and enjoyed her days of traveling.  She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. 

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, D. Keith and James Seitzer of Twinsburg, Ohio, D. Kenneth Seitzer of Maryville, Tennessee and David K. and Lin Seitzer of St. Charles, Missouri; a son-in-law, Pat Lynch of St. Charles, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. 

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Donna Kay Seitzer, Daniel K. Seitzer and Deniste Kay “Dee” Lynch and six siblings, Willis, Pearl, Ruth, Helen, Derwood and Junior.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Chris Franklin officiating. 

Graveside services will be held at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Susie Pudman officiating. 

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church or to St. Charles Christian Church and may be accepted at the funeral home.  www.irwinchapel.com
