Marlene B. Hart, 76, of Granite City, IL died at 4:43 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.
Marlene was born to Olga and Thomas Miller, Sr. on November 20, 1941 in Granite City. She was in the S.T.A. class of 1959 and attended South East Missouri State University. She had over 2,000 volunteer hours with the elderly and disabled. She was a high school art teacher and worked with special needs students in Festus and Cape Girardeau, MO, and Madison, IL. She was an ambassador for Easterseals Midwest.
She is survived by her two children; Richard D. Hart of St. Louis and Kim Hart (Missy Helms) of Festus, MO; two brothers: Thomas J. (Bonnie) Miller Jr. of Granite City and Dr. Jack J. (Gail) Miller of Edwardsville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by an aunt Charlotte “Dolly” Jercenovic and cousin Stephanie “Tessie” Ruzic.
Visitation will take place September 27, 2018 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home, 2205 Pontoon Rd, Granite City, IL.
Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison, IL at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018, officiated by Fr. Jeff Holtman.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville.
