Dorothy Lee Marsala, 95, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 5:35 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City.
She was born March 7, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri. She married Vincent Joseph Marsala Sr. on April 29, 1939 in St. Louis and he passed away on January 13, 2012. She loved music throughout her life and loved singing, dancing and playing the piano. She enjoyed reading the Bible and crocheting and will be remembered for the love and special times she had with her family.
She is survived by six children and spouses, Lucille and Tom LaValley of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jim and Helen Marsala of Granite City, John and Shirley Marsala of Granite City, Shelley and Mike Crook of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Nancy Marsala of Granite City and Tina and Tom Cell of Granite City; many grandchildren; great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Dolores; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and many friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Janet McGuire and Jane Pigg; three sons, Larry Joseph Marsala, Vince Marsala Jr. and David Marsala; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Ed, Vernon and John and two sisters, Betty and Mary.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 12:00 noon with Reverend Barry Shepherd officiating.
Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
