Terry Lee Hargis, 61, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 8:36 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home.
He was born October 30, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Richard Eugene and Juanita (MacIntosh) Hargis. He married Cynthia E. “Cindy” (Rodgers) Hargis on September 28, 1991 in Granite City and she survives.
He retired in 2015 from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of dedicated service in maintenance. He had served as a fireman throughout many local communities and was a member of the Madison County Fireman’s Association for 30 years. He was a member of the United Postal Workers Union and loved being with his family. Terry was an avid outdoorsman and cherished his days of fishing, hunting, and camping.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Cole and Amanda Hargis of Pontoon Beach; daughter, Brittney Hargis and her significant other, Blake Pinegar of Edwardsville; five grandchildren, Kay, Bryce, Aria, Aubrey and Kyle Knight; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Diane Hargis of Glen Carbon; sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Thomas Dickson of Meadowbrook; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Frank and Sandy Rodgers of Granite City, Mace Rodgers of Granite City and Keith and Cindy Rodgers of Granite City; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends and his cherished dogs, Molly, Luke, Brutus and Cooper.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City o Monday, November 12, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
