Stan Carl Wania, 62, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 1:26 a.m. Wed. Nov. 28, 2018 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
He was born Jan. 13, 1956 in St. Louis, MO to Ruth T. (Kellett) Wania of O’Fallon, MO and the late Edward L. Wania.
He and Denise L. Weis were married in St. Louis in 1976. She preceded him in death Aug. 15, 1992.
Mr. Wania was a union floor layer, serving with Local #1310 for more than 20 years. He loved music and fishing.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by 4 children: Joshua (Kelly) Wania of St. Charles, MO, Ryan (Mary) Wania of Fairmont City, IL; Niccole Wania of Granite City and Stan Wania III of Granite City; 4 grandchildren: Riley Wania, Denise Wania, Reagan Wania and Ryan Wania Jr.; 3 sisters: Cindy (Tim) Flach of Columbia, SC, Mari Wania of Hailey, ID and Maureen Wania Galkowski of St. Charles, MO; and 2 brothers: Edward Wania of St. Louis, MO and Craig (Heather) Wania of Wentzville, MO.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bart Wania.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date and he will be laid to rest next to his wife at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis.
