Cynthia J. Colp, 70 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville surrounded by her family.
Cynthia was born on February 4, 1948 in Granite City; the daughter of the late Milton R. and Ginger (Newberry) Slattery Warren. Cynthia was a loving wife, mom and grandma who attended Calvary Life Church in Granite City. She was a well known talented artist who enjoyed crafts and was considered a master builder of pinewood soap box derby cars.
Cynthia loved giving to her family by making Halloween costumes for her children and baking a variety of “goodies” for the whole family. She loved the outdoors where she could tend to her garden and flowers. Cynthia loved all animals but she had a special for cats. Most of all she loved her family and she will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Cynthia is survived by and will be missed by her husband; James W. Colp, whom she married on March 18, 1966; her children, James (Darla) Colp of Troy, Illinois, Aaron Colp of Granite City, Illinois; grandchildren, Jessica Colp (Nick Osborn) of Maryville, Illinois, Justin Colp of Caseyville, Illinois; sister, Melodye (Truman) Crispell of Edwardsville, Illinois; brothers, Gerald (Patricia) Slattery of St. James, Missouri, Robert Slattery of St. Louis, Missouri, Keith (Pam) Slattery of Marble Hill, Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other close family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon.
In celebration of Cynthia’s life, services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Maynard officiating.
Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
