Dr. Greg Luttrell

Dr. Greg Luttrell, 58, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 6:43 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Edwardsville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Edwardsville.  He was born July 6, 1960 in Marion, Indiana, a son of Guy Leon Luttrell of Phoenix, Arizona and the late Patricia (Libbert) Luttrell.  He married Karol S. (Lee) Luttrell on June 10, 2006 at the John Calvin Presbyterian Church in St. Louis and she survives.  He had served as a professor at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville teaching City Traffic Engineering.  He had served as a City Traffic Engineer in Rapid City, North Dakota and also Boynton Beach, Florida.  The United States Army veteran proudly served as a 2nd Lieutenant Reserve Officer and with the Corp of Engineer.  He was a talented artist and loved working with leather.  He was a member of the Leather Guild, Belleville Art Guild and the Art Hive in Springfield, Illinois.  He also enjoyed model railroading and biking on the trails.  In addition to his beloved wife and father, he is survived by his twin children, Douglas Leon Luttrell of Granite City and Amy Robin Luttrell of St. Louis; a stepdaughter, Jenny Marie (John) Marshall of O’Fallon, Missouri; a sister, Lori (Rob) Simonson of Phoenix, Arizona; nephew, Michael Greeling of Granite City; other extended family and friends.

In celebration of his life and in accordance to his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a family service will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made to Madison County Transit to support the bike trails.  Irwin Chapel of Granite City in charge of arrangements.  www.irwinchapel.com
