Delora Baker

Delora C. Baker, 78 of Granite City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Anderson Hospital Maryville.

Delora was born on May 19, 1940 in Granite City; the daughter of the late George R. and Violet (Evans) Gassdorf. Delora was a honors graduated from the Granite City High School class of 1958. Delora was a bond clerk at MAGNA Bank and had worked at Open Kitchens in Madison where she was a secretary. She was a member of GC First Assembly, a member of The Order of the Eastern Star #650 and volunteered with Job’s Daughters. In her free time she enjoyed countless hours of watching hummingbirds and was always ready to host a holiday get together with her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she will be remembered for the love of her family and all the special times they shared together.

Delora is survived by and will be missed by her husband; Ralph Baker, whom she married on August 11, 1962; daughters, Rhonda (Donnie) Lowe of Edwardsville, Lea Ann (Tony) Earhart of Granite City; granddaughters, Jesseca Lowe of Edwardsville, Leeza Hubbard of Granite City and many other close family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of Delora’s life, services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Stacey Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Memorial donations are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis.
