Lois Rae Hill, 84, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City. She was born August 25, 1934 in Burnt Prairie, Illinois, the daughter of the late George and Inez (Coles) Schmitt. She had worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed watching all sports throughout the years and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by three daughter and sons-in-law, Donna and Roger Laws of Granite City, Rena and Jerome Boyer of Granite City and Janice and Kevin Wilson of Granite City; six grandchildren, Matthew and wife, Kristin Laws, Hannah Wilson, Meredith Wilson, Blake Boyer, Leah Cathorall and Jessica Smith; five great grandchildren, Lucy Laws, Benjamin Laws, Addison Smith, Nixon Smith and Luke Cathorall; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David W. Hill; a brother, George “Artie” Schmitt and a half-sister, Georgia Neece.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. with Father Jeff Holtman officiating.
