Charles A. White, Jr., 80, of Granite City, Illinois died May 19, 2019 in Maryville, Illinois.
He was born August 11, 1938 in Madison, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife Joy Joann White; Children, Renee (Clayton) Dickerson, David (Teresa) White, Roxanna (Jay Luhr) White, Michael (Julie) Willis, Brian (Vicki) Willis, Paul Willis: 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 sister Delores Economy; 2 sister in Laws, Opal White and Louise White and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Charles A. and Valetta (nee Beck) White, Sr.; 2 brothers Norvell White and Burton White, and 1 infant sister.
Charles retired from Granite City Steel after 35 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 50. He was an assistant Scout Master for Troop 5 in Granite City Illinois.
He loved spending time outdoors and was an avid reader. He was a selfless strong man who was always willing to lend a hand. He was most proud of his family, children and grandchildren.
In celebration of his life visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon with Reverend Joy Caschetta officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers the family prefers donation be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
