Dale Chastain

Dale R. “Rusty” Chastain, 63 of Granite City passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Belleville Memorial Hospital.

Rusty was born on March 2, 1956 in Granite City; the son of the late James and Levena (Sherfy) Chastain. Rusty was a machine operator for Waste Management Systems and had attended Word of Life Tabernacle in Granite City. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later on went to join the Granite City American Legion and Granite City AmVets. Rusty enjoyed his days of hanging out with his buddies at the American Legion, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family. Rusty will be remembered for his kind heart and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.

Rusty is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Geneva (Creek) Chastain, whom he married on July 6, 1974; his children, James (Kelli) Chastain of Granite City, Kristina Chastain of Granite City, Misty (Jeremy) Rubenacker of Granite City, Rebecka Chastain of Granite City; grandchildren, Cameron Rubenacker, Chloe Chastain, Titon Pinkerton, Ada Pinkerton; sisters, Joyce Church, Gale Howard; brother, Dane Chastain and many other close family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Rusty was preceded in death by his brother, James Chastain.

In celebration of Rusty’s life, a memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. at Word of Life Tabernacle, 4870 Maryville Road in Granite City with Pastor Henry Crippen officiating. Memorial donations are suggested to the family. Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City is serving the family.
