Edna Lee “MoMo” Stagner, 90, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City.
She was born June 25, 1929 in Christian County, Kentucky, a son of the late Marion and Thelma Elizabeth (Hayes) Shanklin. She married Roger C. Stagner on June 24, 1950 in Fairview, Kentucky and he passed away on March 5, 2010. Edna was a devoted and loving homemaker and enjoyed her days of sewing, working with crafts and cooking for her family. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City for many years. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn Chrusciel of Granite City and Marsha and Christ Dowd of Overland Park, Kansas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Tricia Stagner of Sarasota, Florida and Ron and Carol Stagner of Lenexa, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Erik, Jason, Jeremy, Brianna, Lauren, Alyssa, David, Ryan and Lukas; thirteen great grandchildren, Gavyn, Talyn, Grant, Shelby, Josh, Crystal, Dakota, Emmlyn, Collette, Autumn, Caleb, Henry and Keegan; a sister, Lucille Russell of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; a brother, Howard Shanklin of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle; four brothers, Clarence, Roy, Ralph and Randolph Shanklin and a sister, Dorothy Voyles.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 3000 Washington Avenue in Granite City on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Jesse Tedder officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Memorials may be made to the Carmi Children’s Home in Carmi, Illinois and may be accepted at the funeral home.
