David W. Drury, 65 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
David was born on September 20, 1954 in Berwyn, Illinois; the son of the late James and Kathryn (Wilson) Drury Barnhart. David was a truck driver for CSI Concrete in Troy, Illinois and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. David was a known outdoorsman who enjoyed his days of hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was the love of his family and all the special times they shared together. David will be missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
David is survived by his wife; Marlene (Starnes) Drury, whom he married on August 2, 1986; daughter, Ashley Drury of Granite City; brothers, James Drury of Missouri, Mark Drury of Washington, Bob and Carol Drury of House Springs, MO, Joe Barnhart of Belleville, IL and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close family members and friends.
In addition to David’s parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law; Arthur Starnes; grandparents, Mae Luckreth, James Drury.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. David will be laid to rest with full military rites on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorial donations are suggested to the family.
