Russell Fetter

Russell Fetter, 85, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Christian Hospital in St. Louis. He was born March 25, 1934, in Granite City, a son of the late Charles Jacob and Genevieve (Robinson) Fetter. He married Annadella (Bywater) Fetter on May 7, 1955, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granite City and she passed away on March 31, 2017.  He retired in 1996 from Sears after 27 years of dedicated service as a mechanic.  He had a love of motorcycles and enjoyed his many miles on the road with his Harleys.  In his early years, he had owned and operated Fetter Harley Davidson in Madison, was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and was a former road captain with the V-Twins Motorcycle Club.  He also enjoyed flying and had built an airplane.  Russ was a simple man who enjoyed sitting on his front porch and a day of fishing.  He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.  He is survived by five children and their spouses, Chester and Helen Fetter of Maryville, Gail and Bobby Hoelscher of Warrenton, Missouri, Verna and John Danneker of Godfrey, John and Kristi Fetter of Granite City and Karl and Mary Fetter of Maryland Heights, Missouri; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Stephanie, Tara and Ryan, Chet and Stephanie, Chelsea and Gary, Seth, Taylor, Kayln, Gary, John, Ethan, and Hannah; seven great-grandchildren, Trenten, Keegan, Olivia, Lucas, Braden, Brynn, and A.J.; a sister, Melissa Perrigan of Murphysboro, Illinois; other extended family and friends.  In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelley Ann; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Rose Fetter and a brother-in-law, Bud Perrigan.  In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel in Granite City on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with his son, Karl Fetter officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.  Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice and may be accepted at the funeral home.  www.irwinchapel.com
