Ethel Mae Magary, 89, of Collinsville and formerly of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away at Elmwood Nursing Home in Maryville at 10:05 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2020. She was born September 23, 1930 in Steeleville, Illinois, a daughter of the late Eddie and Amanda (Niedebrach) Kranz. She married Kenneth A. Magary on November 2, 1947 in Steeleville, Illinois and he passed away on December 29, 2011. She was a loving and faithful homemaker, member of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed her days of quilting. She is survived by a son, Richard (Debra) Magary of Edwardsville; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; niece, Shelly (Garry) Roux of Collinsville; several nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra K. Hahn; a grandson; a brother, Leland Kranz and a sister, Novella Smith. Ethel deserves a beautiful tribute. However, during these uncertain times, a private memorial service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2020 at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon with Reverend Kyle Wright officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
