Richard Earl Kagy, 65, of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at his home. Rick was born July 17, 1954 in Salem, Illinois, a son of Richard E. Kagy Sr. and Donna (Gansmann) Kagy of Granite City. Richard was a long-time professional drummer and canine trainer.The United States veteran proudly served his country with the Navy. Rick loved to play and listen to music, sharing that passion with friends and family. He played in multiple bands and venues. He developed a reputation as a world-class drummer. When he was not involved with music in some capacity, he loved to train dogs. He helped police departments nationwide in multiple investigations and supplied them with canines. In addition to his beloved parents, he is survived by his daughters, Carrie Stewart of Hutchinson, Kansas and Natalie West of Shelter Cover, California; his son, Nicholas Kagy of Montgomery, Alabama, his grandchildren, Adrie, Jasmine, Seven, McKenzie and Lennox; his sister-in-law; Gloria Kagy; his nephew, Michael Kagy; his niece; Jennifer Smith; other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Ray Kagy.
Internment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
