John Preston Morgan, 77, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 8:44 a.m. Sun. June 28, 2020 at his home.
He was born Apr. 2, 1943 in Olive Branch, IL to the late Cecil Hiram & Eva Lenora (Holmes) Morgan.
He and Sylvia Axelrod were married in 1983 in St. Thomas while on a cruise. She preceded him in death in 2010.
John was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1964 to 1967. After the service, owned and operated LeAnn Furs in East St. Louis for 50 years. He had been a member of Calvary Life Church and loved to golf.
He is survived by 5 siblings: Pauline Pierce of St. Louis, MO, Bettie Holloway of Granite City, Sharon (Mike) VanZant of Cumberland City, TN, Shirley Pulley of Granite City and Ina (Tony) Wright of Granite City.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Bobby and James Morgan.
The family will hold a private memorial service. Burial will be private at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
