Delores A. Filkins, 83 of Granite City passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2020 at her home.
Delores was born on August 28, 1936 in West City, IL; the daughter of the late James E. and Evelyn (Mandrell) Kearney Glasgow. Delores was a homemaker, mom and wife who was a member of Niedringhaus United Methodist Church in Granite City. Delores enjoyed her days of taking care of her family and she will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Delores is survived by and will be missed by her sons and daughters-in-law; Dave and Rebecca Filkins of Mascoutah, IL, John and Karen Filkins of Bellevue, NE, Don and Lisa Filkins of Dunlap, IL, Tim and Pam Filkins of Granite City, IL; sister, Brenda and Edward Cullen of Machesney Park, IL; granddaughters, Sharon Filkins, Jennifer (Paul) Shook, Michelle (Colt) Hester, Ellen Filkins, Emily Filkins; great-grandchildren, Hunter Shook, Seth Shook, Emett Shook, Austin Shook, Tatum Shook, Westley Shook, Harley Hester and many other close family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband; Jack L. Filkins, whom she married on February 13, 1952; her son, James Daniel “Danny” Filkins and half brother, William Manis.
In celebration of Delores’s life, a visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Filkins officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the Methodist Cluster Breakfast Ministry.
