Edward Walter Suydam, 77, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 1:52 p.m. Thurs. Aug. 6, 2020 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
He was born Nov. 16, 1942 in Long Branch, NJ to the late Edward W. & Helen (Haines) Suydam.
On July 30, 1988, he and Joyce Ann Criss were married in St. Louis, MO. She survives in Granite City.
Ed worked as a carpenter for the stockyards. He was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church and loved politics.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Edward Walter (Yolanda) Suydam III; a step-daughter: Marsha (George) Hill of Hazelwood, MO; a step-son: Calvin Dale Walker of Granite City; 6 grandchildren: Susan Terrell , Jared Suydam , Shawn Suydam , Kyle Evans, Shawn Evans, and Sarah Hill; 5 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Ann Moylan of Granite City.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Geraldine Baker and Patricia Moreland .
