Gary Alan Vogeler, 59, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 8:22 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home. He was born December 9, 1960 in Granite City, a son of the late George R. and Dolores (Wigger) Vogeler. He married Rae Ellen (Doolittle) Vogeler on September 25, 1999 at Niedringhaus United Methodist Church in Granite City and she survives. He retired from Gebco Machine in Granite City after many years of dedicated service as a machinist. He had a passion for auto racing and slot car racing and was an extreme fan of NASCAR and a faithful member of the Gateway Slot Racing Association. He was a member of Niedringhaus United Methodist Church and was a Boy Scout throughout his youth. He was a 1979 graduate of Granite City High School and later received an Associate Degree from Ranken University in St. Louis. He enjoyed his days of fishing and boating and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by a sister, Gail Vogeler of Bourbonnais, Illinois; a brother, Dennis R. Vogeler of Granite City; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dana Jo and Richard Badke of Wetaskiwin in Alberta, Canada; many cousins and special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Adolph and Doris Wigger and Louis and Clara Vogeler and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lloyd and Marian Doolittle. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Reverend John Walter will officiate and a eulogy given by his cousin, Don Vonnahme. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
