Stephen Leslie Darnell, 75, passed away 10:07 pm, Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
Born in Alton on July 31, 1945, he was the son of Leslie and Mary (Austin) Darnell.
Stephen had worked as a maintenance man for area hospitals and hotels during his career before retiring.
He is survived by a son, Jeff Darnell of Wood River; daughter, Kim (Joe) Cox of Alton; grandchildren, Caleb Cox, Daniel Cox, Tyler Darnell, Mariah (Justin) Jett, Jordan Darnell, Celeste Darnell; great grandchildren, Jaelynn and Kinsley Jett; and daughter-in-law, Amy Reaka of Dupo.
His parents and two sisters, Betty Jean Schelm and JoAnn Campbell preceded in death.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites were accorded and no services have been scheduled.
Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
