Geraldine F. “Gerry” Stroud, 84 of Granite City, Illinois passed away peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon.
Gerry was born on December 11, 1935 in Madison, Illinois; the daughter of the late Leo and Nancy (Brooks) Williams. Gerry was a beautician and the owner and operator of New You Hair Salon and a member of the Cloud 9 Ranch Cub in Caulfield, Missouri. In her free time Gerry enjoyed her days of spending time with her family and will be remembered for all the special times they spent together.
Gerry is survived by and will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law; Christi and John Courtwright of Granite City, Illinois; son, Gary Peters of Millstadt, Illinois; grandchildren, Justin, Megan, Lindsey and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Tyson, Mariah, Nash, Brooklyn, Lennox, Lakota and Legend; and her sister, Patricia Fultz and many other close family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Stroud, whom she married on November 18, 1994; her sisters, Leola and Pauline and her brother, Bubby.
In celebration of Gerry’s life, a memorial gathering will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 with services to follow at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorial donations are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
