Jo Ann Tubbs, 67 of Granite City, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital.
Jo Ann was born on September 9, 1953 in Granite City, the daughter of the late Tracy and Murle (Martin) Padgett. Jo Ann trained to be a nurse but her heart was to be a homemaker because she loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. Jo Ann was always known for putting her family’s needs above her own and will be remembered for all the special times she shared with her family.
Jo Ann is survived by and will be missed by her husband of nearly 49 years; Daniel R. Tubbs; her children, Danielle and Jim Hoffman of Granite City, Danny Tubbs of Granite City, Douglas and Janet Tubbs of Gulf Breeze, FL, Shaun Tubbs of Granite City, Amanda Tubbs of Granite City; sisters, Julia Ramirez of Des Moines, IA, Janet Parks of Colorado Springs, CO; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many other close family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Padgett.
In celebration of Jo Ann’s life, a visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Sam Hart officiating at City Temple, 4751 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Dystonia Medical Research Foundation. Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City is serving the family.
