Verna Ruebhausen

Verna Mae Ruebhausen, 90, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 6:25 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021, at Cedarhurst of Granite City.

She was born August 25, 1930, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Thom Parks and Maude Parks Ernie.

She married Dean F. Ruebhausen on December 10, 1954 in Granite City and he passed away on July 29, 2009.

Verna was a member of Nameoki United Methodist Church in Granite City. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and enjoyed attending S.O.A.R. gatherings and the H.O.P.E. luncheons. Verna and Dean were members of the Granite City Elk’s Lodge for many years and made wonderful memories with their friends and fellow members. Verna loved to read and worked for nearly a decade at the Granite City Public Library. Dogs, babies, Elvis, and ice cream could always put a smile on Verna’s face. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, David Ruebhausen and fiancé, Dana; a daughter, Denette Pinta; four grandchildren, Nathan and Jamie Ruebhausen, Whitney and Scott Threinen, Justin and Elizabeth Pinta and Chelsea and Travis Tate; two great-grandchildren, Raylan Threinen and Delilah Willis; a brother-in-law, Robert Ruebhausen; nephew, Ron and Lori Ruebhausen; special great-nephew, Michael and Marissa Ruebhausen; special great-niece, Erin and Ryan Heopfner; other extended family and many close friends.

In addition to her beloved husband of 55 years and parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Rome, Elmer, Melvin, Lloyd, William “Wid”, Clifford “Bud”, and Willard.

In celebration of her life, a service will be held at a later date.

Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
