Michael W. Hunter Sr., 72, of Collinsville, IL, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Tues. Mar. 2, 2021 at Anderson Hospital ER in Maryville, IL.
He was born Oct. 29, 1948 in East St. Louis, IL to the late Charles & Ann Hunter.
Michael had been a horseman at Fairmont Racetrack, retiring after more than 40 years of service.
He is survived by 2 sons: Michael (Penny) Hunter Jr. of Saybrook, IL and Buddy (Holly) Hunter of Caseyville, IL; 2 half-daughters: Michelle Hunter and Amber Hunter of Collinsville; 19 grandchildren; and a brother Melvin Hunter of OH.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Larry, Ronnie and Tommy Hunter; and 3 sisters: Pat Alvarez, Shirley Haines and his infant twin.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
