Joyce I. Hurley, age 77 of Highland, IL, formerly of State Park Place, IL, born September 14, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Joyce married Clinton M. Hurley on September 7, 1960. She was a homemaker raising their five children, Clinton, Joyce, Rhonda, Vonna and Shawnda. She had also worked as a dye cutter for Crown Products in St. Louis, MO. She was a member of Alpha & Omega Church in Collinsville, IL. She enjoyed doll collecting, planting tomatoes, and listening to Elvis Presley. Joyce was dedicated to her family and embraced every moment with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Wilma (nee Simonion) Mathis; a daughter, Joyce Elaine Sparks; three brothers: Roy, Raymond and Ronnie Mathis; and a sister, Jean Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband, Clinton Hurley; four children: Clinton “Woody” (Delinda “Dede”) Hurley of Mt. Olive, IL, Rhonda (Donald) Smith, Jr. of Collinsville, IL, Vonna (Robert) Clark of St. Jacob, IL, and Shawnda (Jason) Stabile of Edwardsville, IL; 14 grandchildren: Eric Hurley, Derek Hurley, Nikita (Cody) Miller, Astasha Sparks, Chad (Erin) Sparks, Leslie (Brian) Eggemeyer, Kandice (Darrin) Prigmore, Bryce (Megan) Stabile, Blair (Kaleb) DePew, Abby Leiner, Emma Leiner, Alex Leiner, Griffin Clark and MacLayne Clark; 12 great-grandchildren Brylie Stabile, Layla Stabile, Ella Eggemeyer, Chloe Eggemeyer, Chase Prigmore, Coy Prigmore, Cooper Sparks, Carson Sparks, Karson Hansel, Chael Miller, Naya Miller and Maeve Miller; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks are required to be worn.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. following the visitation with Rev. Ron Habermehl officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
Memorials may be made in Joyce’s honor to BJC Hospice and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to the funeral home at 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
