Robert L. Kunnemann, age 93 of Troy, IL, born May 3, 1927, in Granite City, IL, passed away on April 25, 2021, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.
Robert was a graduate of Granite City High School and was employed in the insurance and mechanics fields. He was a Navy veteran and received the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. He was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, the VFW, America Legion, and Amvets.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Martha (nee Kleppisch) Kunnemann; his wife, Norma Kunnemann; two brothers, Earl and Elmer Kunnemann, and a sister, Marilyn Troeckler.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Pam) Kunnemann of DeSoto, MO; two daughters: Kathy (Dennis) Rhymer of Collinsville, IL, and Barbara (John) Schoenherr of Carlisle, OH; nine grandchildren: Chris, Tim (RaLynne), Gail, Ericka (Barry), Jeff (Rebecca), Sara (Jason), David (Amy), Angela (Luke), and Brian (Rachel); 16 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, IL. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks are required to be worn.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the church with Rev. Kyle Wright officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
