Roy W. Scoggins, 81, passed away at 3:44 am Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at home with his wife and niece by his side.
Born at home in Kane, Illinois on June 30, 1940, he was the son of Roy and Georgetta (Elmore) Scoggins. He married the former Roma Kay Hauptman in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 15, 1991. They were blessed with 30 years of marriage.
He worked for the federal government for 25 years with the last 11 years as a lead examiner with Farm Credit Administration. He retired in June of 1997. Roy was an avid golfer for over 50 years. When he was not on the links, you could find him outside working on his latest project. He also entertained the neighborhood with the love of his bluegrass music blaring from the garage on Saturday mornings.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, Alan (Karen) Scoggins of Kenai, Alaska; a daughter, Tracia (Dan Palmer) Roberson of Glen Carbon; three grandchildren, Kyle (Kylie) Scoggins of San Antonio, TX, Nathan Scoggins of New Hampshire and Tabbitha Palmer of Glen Carbon; two sisters, Roberta Nardin of Mount Olive and Ruth Neuhoff of Jerseyville; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Scoggins.
