Betty L. Kamm, age 92 of Highland, IL, died Monday, October 18, 2021, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Breese, IL.
She was born on Wednesday, September 25, 1929, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Wilbert and Sylvia (nee Gathard) Rutz.
On Monday, May 30, 1949, she married Edmund Beall Kamm at the Evangelical & Reformed Church, Highland, IL, who passed away on Tuesday, October 02, 2007.
She was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Evangelical United Church of Christ Women’s Guild; Highland Historical Society; St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary; Faith Countryside Home Auxiliary; Highland Chapter Order of Eastern Star (50+ yr. member); Board of Director – Faith Countryside Homes; and Meals On Wheels Driver.
Mrs. Kamm was born on September 25, 1929, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Wilbert and Etta (Gathard) Rutz. Her father operated the Rutz Barber Shop. On May 30, 1949, in the Evangelical & Reformed Church, she married Edmund Beall Kamm, who passed away October 2, 2007. She and her husband were in the same class at Highland Community Schools, kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1947. She worked at Siegrist’s Style Shoppe until her marriage, and then was a homemaker until her children were all in school. In 1965, she went to work at Tschannen’s Ben Franklin, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed following the activities of her children and grandchildren, doing volunteer work, searching family trees and reading Highland History. She and her husband traveled to Switzerland several times looking up family history and also traveled around the U.S. on bus trips with friends. She was a wonderful seamstress and creative in all she did during her life.

(Lucas) Brower, Los Angeles, CA; Grandchild – Aaron T. Kamm, Saint Louis, MO; Grandchild – Jordan M. (Chrystal) Kamm, Highland, IL; Grandchild – Daniel E. (Fiancée-Angie Weber) Ramsey, Edwardsville, IL; Grandchild – Shannon C. (Dane) Wallace, Edwardsville, IL; Great Grandchildren – 10.
She was preceded in death by: Father – Wilbert Lawrence Rutz – Died 6/4/1956; Mother – Sylvia Etta Rutz, nee Gathard – Died 12/14/1957; Husband – Edmund Beall Kamm – Died 10/2/2007; Daughter – Janna M. Kamm – Died 6/20/2011; Brother – James L. Rutz – Died 1/22/1967; Sister – Marjorie A. Wellington – Died 12/30/2004; Brother – Dale W. Rutz – Died 6/28/2006.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Private Funeral Service, will be at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, Rev. Tim A. Darmour-Paul, Pastor, Grantfork United Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
