Nancy L. Samuels

St. Charles, MO – Nancy L. Samuels, 75, of St. Charles, MO formerly of Alton, IL, passed away on November 26, 2021, at 5:58 pm at Delmar Gardens West.
She was born December 29, 1945, in Alton, IL to Ralph Charles and Bernice D. (Henrion) Shaw. Nancy married Walter “Wally” Samuels in St. Louis, MO on April 12, 1979. He preceded her in passing.

Nancy was an inspiration to many her strength and tenacity knew no bounds. She sugar coated nothing, spoke the truth and wasn’t afraid to tell it like it was. She fought for what was right even if it wasn’t popular in its time. In her later years she was proud of her work with IMPACT. She became an advocate for seniors and the differently abled. Her role led to many positive changes in Alton area businesses. Despite mobility limitations and pain, she had such a zest for life never giving up. She had a passion for swimming and was even on a synchronized swim team in her youth. She’d often joke that she was part fish. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She loved children and she was the kind of mom and grandma that would take time to get down and play with the kids. The all in, fully present and in the moment kind of play. She did not mind messes because she was making memories. She’d often say of life that this is your movie. You are the writer and director – make it a good one. She did just that.

She will be sorely missed and survived by her daughter Carrie Samuels- Eng (Rob) of St. Charles, MO; Sean Baublitz of Wood River, IL; six grandchildren, Tony Baublitz (Katie), Savannah Flanigan (Kyle), Heather Baublitz, Nicholas Samuels- Eng, Sophia Samuels- Eng, and Cheyanne Rhodes; five great grandchildren and two sisters, Barbara McDonald (Ed) of St. Charles, Mo and Kathy Bearce of Erie, CO. and many nieces and nephews.

Private celebration of life will be held Friday, December 3, 2021.
Per her request cremation rites will be accorded by Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that next time the children in your life ask you to be present and play, do just that. Hug a moment longer and cherish the time and memories you have.

Please give generously to a children’s charity of your choice or IMPACT.
