Alton Boys Basketball Team Snaps 28 Game Losing Streak To Beat Wasilla Alaska At The Prairie Farms Winter Classic Tournament

COLLINSVILLE – Alton came into this game with a 0-12 record for the season but that record did not discourage the kids they came out fighting and was able to beat a Wasilla Alaska team 61-31 to close out the tournament.

In the first quarter the Redbirds were able to jump out to a 17 to 11 lead over Wasilla. Alton pushed the lead to a 29 to 18 lead going into half time. Going into the locker room Alton was 4-9 behind the three point line and was 12-29 from the floor.

In the third quarter Alton took a commanding lead and was leading Wasilla 46 to 25 going into the last quarter. In the final quarter Alton outscored Wasilla 15 to 6. Alton was 6 for 16 behind the ark for the game and was 23 for 57 from the floor.

Alton had three players with double figures, Roger Elliott with 14 and Bryon Stampley Jr. and Ihzel Brown both with 10 points. Brown also dominated the boards and pulled down 17 rebounds.

Wasilla was led by Jaidas Huffman with 8 points and Trent Truax with 7 points.

Alton will reset and will play Belleville West Tuesday for a Southwest Conference Game.
