Lovell Pruett, 87, of Granite City, Illinois went to be with her Lord at 1:38 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born November 21, 1934, in Stribling, Tennessee, a daughter of Charles and Pauline (Lane) Taylor. She married Jerry Mitchell Gray in 1953 and he passed away. Lovell retired in 1993 from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City after 25 years of dedicated service as a laundry attendant. She was a devout Christian and faithful and dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church in Granite City. She loved her church where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher. She loved reading the Bible, studying God’s word, and serving her Lord with all of her heart and soul. She loved her years of apple picking, breakfast with her family, celebrating the holidays, and taking many trips to Grafton, always having to stop by for some fish. Lovell cherished her entire family and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, sister, brothers; nieces, and nephews.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Gary Swift of Granite City and Jerri and Butch Dant of Keyesport; two grandchildren, Shannon (Rob Krause) Gray and Kyle Swift; two great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Harris, and Halie Harris; two great-great-grandchildren, Buddy Lamkin and Chloe Lamkin; sister, Laverne Dawson of Granite City; many special nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Taylor and Robert Taylor.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 2600 Edwards Street in Granite City on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Daniel Wilson officiating.
