Marlene M. Kustermann, age 71 of Highland, IL, died Friday, January 21, 2022, at her home, Highland, IL.
She was born on Sunday, October 15, 1950, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Henry and Augusta (nee Langwisch) Lienemann, Jr.
On Friday, June 23, 1972, she married Paul L. Kustermann at St. Boniface Catholic Church Edwardsville, IL, who survives.
She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, and VFW Post #5694 Auxiliary, Highland, IL (Life Member).
Marlene was born in Highland and grew up in Edwardsville, graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1969. Marlene worked at nursing homes in Edwardsville, Troy, and Highland. She also did Home Health Care for St. Joseph’s Hospital in the 1980s and an ER Tech starting in the early 1990s. She retired after knee surgery in 2015. She and her husband enjoyed many bus trips to various places in the Midwest (Oklahoma, Florida, Iowa, Mississippi, and Louisiana). Eight years ago, Marlene had a kidney transplant. Marlene enjoyed visiting the “boat”, canning and baking, collecting recipes, and was famous for her cinnamon rolls.

Kulage, Saint Jacob, IL; William P. Norbury, Saint Jacob, IL; Miranda R. (Tyler) Primas, Highland, IL; Ashton N. Kustermann, Gulf Breeze, FL; Lena K. Scott, Gulf Breeze, FL; Sadie P. Streight, Davenport, IA; Jayce A. Kustermann, Highland, IL; Cecelia S. Kustermann, Highland, IL; Great Grandchild – Niko E. Dempsey, Highland, IL; Brothers – Charles H. She was preceded in death by: Father – Henry Charles Lienemann, Jr. – Died 4/28/2011; Mother – Augusta L. “Gussie” Lienemann, nee Langwisch – Died 1/3/2013; Sister – Barbara M. Hall – Died 10/8/2009; Brother – Kenneth A. Lienemann – Died 12/8/2014.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, with Rev. Father Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Barnes Jewish Hospital – Transplant Center.
