Darlene Sue Waller, 72 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at her home.
Darlene was born on May 4, 1949, in Granite City; the daughter of the late George and Irene (Biernacki) Turner. Darlene worked for General Electric for 28 years in production and in her free time, she enjoyed her days of playing slots at local casinos, shopping on QVC, and going out with her friends. Most of all Darlene loved spending time with her family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared.
Darlene is survived by and will be missed by her husband; John Waller, whom she married on February 15, 1969; daughter, Amy and Richard Shaffer of Glen Carbon, IL; grandchildren, Brandon Shaffer, Sean Shaffer, Troy “T.J.” Shaffer; brother, Tom and Gerry Turner and many other close family members and friends.
n addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her sisters; Carol, Georgia, Loretta, and Doris.
In celebration of Darlene’s life, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Then the procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. to Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville where graveside services will be held with Fr. Alfred Tumwesigye officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road, Granite City, IL 62040 or to Masses.
