Collinsville Police Lieutenant Eric Herman Retires After Over 20 Years Of Service

COLLINSVILLE – Collinsville Police Lieutenant Eric Herman officially retires after 20 1/2 years of service.

Lieutenant Herman was hired at Collinsville on October 19th, 2001 after previously serving in the United State’s Marine Corps and working several years for the Mattoon, Illinois Police Department, Lieutenant Herman quickly set himself apart with an unrelenting work ethic.

Lieutenant Herman held a variety of positions throughout his career, including Field Training Officer, Detective, Honor Guard member, Patrol Sergeant, Training Coordinator, Patrol Lieutenant, and finally concluding his career as our Administrative Lieutenant.

Throughout his career, he was a member of variety of organizations, including Major Case Squad, Child Death Investigation Task Force, Collinsville Food Pantry Board of Directors, among several others. Herman was known as “go-to “guy when you need something done, Lieutenant Herman was responsible for a variety of projects and process improvements that took our department to an entirely new level.

His steady guidance and leadership will be sorely missed.
