Suspect Charged In Murder In Maryville

MARYVILLE – The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis apprehended a suspect that was wanted in connection with a murder in Maryville Illinois on Thursday night.

The suspect is identified as Danyiel M. Johnson 40 of St. Louis. Johnson and the victim were identified as Ronald L. Holland age 40 of Jennings Missouri the victim and suspect knew each other.

On Thursday, March 17, 4:05 PM the Maryville Police Department received a call in the 2000 block of North Bluff Road of a deceased subject. The caller advised there was a male subject face down in a pool of blood and appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds. 20 plus Major Case Squad detectives responded to the scene.

A vehicle Holland used was unaccounted for and later found abanded in St Louis. The investigators were able to link the Illinois scene to the Missouri scene.

Johnson was charged with 2 counts of 1st-degree Murder, One Count of Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and the fourth count of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. These charges can land Johnson in prison for life.

It is unknown why these two were in Maryville at the time of the murder. Police say there is no connection these two had to Illinois.
